No One Exists Alone: Queer Belonging
The Withney Museum of American Art invites you to join No One Exists Alone: Queer Belonging, a guided tour exploring gender, sexuality, and LGBTQ perspectives in Where We Are: Selections from the Whitney’s Collection, 1900-1960. Tours take place on the last Friday evening of the month at 7:30 pm. i.e. on September 29, October 27 and November 24, 2017. The tours are free with Museum admission.
Drawn entirely from the Whitney’s holdings, the exhibition Where We Are is organized around five themes: family and community, work, home, the spiritual, and the nation. A central aim of the exhibition is to honor each artist’s efforts to create her or his own vision of American life. The artists and their works suggest that our sense of self is composed of our responsibilities, places, and beliefs.
