About Sigrid Friedman (1879-1963)

Sigrid Karolina Sofia Fridman (1879-1963) was a Swedish sculptor and poet. She studied art in Paris and worked as a sculptor in Stockholm, Sweden. In the 1920s she had a relationship with literary critic Klara Johanson. A bust of Klara Johnson (1924) by Sigrid Friedman is in the collection of the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm. Sigrid Friedman created the above bronze sculpture of well-known feminist author Ellen Key in 1953. The sculpture is in Ellen Keys Park in Stockholm, Sweden. Among her other public sculptures in Stockholm are ‘Fredrika Bremer’ (1927) and ‘Kentauren’ (1939).
