About Markel Uriu
Markel Uriu is an interdisciplinary artist in Seattle, WA. She is a member of Lion’s Main Art Collective a Seattle-based community of queer and trans artists that showcases innovative and interdisciplinary art. Her work explores impermanence, maintenance and the unseen with her use of natural materials and interest in invasive species. Drawing from her Japanese and Irish-American heritage, she is particularly interested in liminal spaces, and explores these concepts through, research, ephemeral botanical narratives, installations, and two-dimensional work. Sowing and weaving is and integral part of her creative practice.
