Birthe Havmoeller in London with Sarah Jane Moon
Sarah Jane Moon and Birthe Havmoeller
I was in London last week. There I met with queer artist Sarah Jane Moon who gave me a tour of her studio in Brixton and showed some of the portraits which she is working on. We discussed her coming exhibition and art projects. She has a self portrait from 2015 called ‘In The Studio’ on display at the In Your Face: Queer Artists’ Versions of Themselves exhibition (curated by Sadie Lee) which opens at the Salisbury Art Centre Saturday September 23, 2017.
Sarah Jane Moon is originally from New Zealand. She has lived and worked in lots of places and has been based in London for the last 10 years. She is a trained portrait painter. She loves to paint portraits and landscapes – expecially the New Zealand contryside which resonates more with her than the English hills.
Sarah recomended the exhibition Queer British Art 1861–1967 at Tate Britain in London and said it is surprisingly good! I went to see the exhibition a few days later and I agree it is a fine exhibition. Thanks Sarah!
