Jo Spence (1934 – 1992)
Jo Spence was a photographer, educator, writer, organizer and broadcaster. In the early 1980s she starte on a body of photograps with herself as a model. Diagnoces with cancer, much of her work was a response to her illness and the hospital treatments. Her creative practice illustrates a commitment to the political potential of photography, a way to show the public her traumas and the decay of her body.
