Florine Stettheimer (1871-1944) was an American modernist painter, feminist, theatrical designer, poet, and salonnière. The Cathedrals of Art, a series of four monumental paintings were executed between 1929 and 1942; Florine Stettheimer created extraordinary composite visions of New York’s economic, social, and cultural institutions.
Joan Snyder is an American expressionist painter and an openly queer woman.
