New Book: ET L’AMOUR AUSSI by Marie Docher (2023)

Video (2:18): Teaser in French (with French subtitles) about the photography book Et l’amour aussi by Marie Docher (La Déferlante Éditions, 2023).

Inspired by queer activist and photographer Zanele Muholi’s visual activism and the 10th anniversary of gay people’s right to marry in France, French photographer and queer feminist Marie Docher launched her photography project, ET L’AMOUR AUSSI. She writes, ‘I wanted to reflect the great diversity of those who call themselves lesbians, gays or dykes, who “love someone”.(…) The women who participated in this work cannot be reduced to loving women, being lesbians, gays or dykes. They are much more, their identities are multiple. But they are above all not less. Each image is an adventure built together, in a place they choose. There are couples, families, singles, polyamorous people, children, people whose courage I admire who tell their stories, who think and imagine love.’ The book features both images and stories about lesbians in France. And Marie Docher’s photographs premiered as an exhibition at the festival Les arts en balade in Clermont-Ferrand, France in 2023.
