Ro Robertson: Drench | Frieze Sculpture 2022

Video (1:21): The Cornwall-based queer artist Ro Robertson introduces us to their transformatory work ‘Drench’ at Frieze Sculpture 2022 in London’s Regent Park.

‘The work is the latest manifestation of Robertson’s exploration of the ‘terrain of the queer body’ which welds the figure and the landscape as one. Inspired by the tidal zone, five forms made of weathering steel are painted in blues up to a ‘tide line’, with other parts exposed and left to rust. For Robertson, the tide’s continuous cycle of dehydration and rehydration – or drenching – creates a space of transformation and renewal.’ – Frieze Sculpture
